Common questions
How do I put the flag on my Home Screen?
Once you've set up your flag in the app:
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the plus button in the top corner.
- Search for FlagPole and choose it.
- Swipe to the size you want, small, medium, or large, then tap Add Widget.
- Drag it where you like and tap Done.
The same flag fills whichever size you place, and your saved frame comes along with it.
How do I change the frame or size?
Open the Studio tab, pick a frame (Paper Mat, Inset, or Plain) and a preview size, and your choice is saved. The widget on your Home Screen updates to match the frame you saved.
What do "full-staff" and "half-staff today" mean?
Full-staff means the flag flies at the top of the pole, the normal position. Half-staff means it is lowered, usually to honor someone or mark a day of mourning. The Almanac tab shows which one today calls for, in plain language, and a few days run on special rules, like Memorial Day, when the flag is at half-staff until noon and then raised for the rest of the day.
How do I turn on flag-day reminders?
Reminders are optional and off until you switch them on in Settings inside the app. Once they're on, FlagPole nudges you the morning a flag day lands and tells you how to fly it. You can turn them off any time, either in the app or in your iPhone's Settings under Notifications.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, and choose FlagPole to change or cancel it. Canceling stops future renewals, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. The details are in our Terms of Service.
How do I restore a purchase?
If you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone, open FlagPole's Settings and choose Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. If anything looks off, write to us and we'll help.
I'd like my data deleted.
FlagPole keeps your widget and reminder settings on your device, so deleting the app removes them. If you joined the launch list and want your email removed, email [email protected] and we'll take it off. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
